The League is hosting another all membership "Ladies' Night Out".--Since the fall Ladies' Night Out was such a success, we are planning another similar event for this spring. The gathering will begin at 5:30 pm and last for as long we would like to socialize. Appetizers are on the League!

Friday, May 17, 2013-Saturday, May 18, 2013   Peabody Marriott Hotel--Peabody, MA LWVMA Convention. The Future of Our Democracy: What's Next?--The keynote speaker for the banquet on Friday night is Dr. Meira Levinson, associate professor of education at Harvard. For Dr. Levinson, "the future of our democracy" lies with engaging young people. Her latest book, No Citizen Left Behind, argues that the US suffers from a civic empowerment gap that is as shameful and anti-democratic as the academic achievement gap targeted by the No Child Left Behind education law. ALL MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND THE CONVENTION! Members, family and friends are welcome to attend the banquet (tickets are $55).
